Juventus coach Igor Tudor revealed that 10 players requested to be substituted during his team's FIFA Club World Cup loss to Real Madrid, due to fatigue from the challenging conditions in the round-of-16 match in Miami.

Gonzalo García's second-half goal secured a 1-0 victory for Madrid, advancing the Spanish club to the quarterfinals at Juventus' expense.

Although temperatures in Miami reached 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 degrees Celsius)—milder than in recent games—Tudor explained that his players still struggled with the environment.

Despite rotating his squad extensively throughout the tournament, Tudor noted that the match against Madrid proved too demanding for several reasons.

'The conditions were extremely challenging today,' Tudor told reporters. 'Ten players asked to be replaced because they were exhausted.'

'Multiple factors contributed to this. It's the end of a grueling season, with significant stress draining their energy. The humidity and heat added to the difficulty,' he added.

FIFA's scheduling of the inaugural 32-team Club World Cup has faced criticism from figures like former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, who voiced concerns last week.

While Tudor described Juventus' experience in the United States as positive, he emphasized the need for rest.

'It's time for rest now,' he said. 'We'll have three weeks off, so I don't believe this will negatively impact us. We need to recharge, start fresh, and come back stronger.'

'The team gave everything, played our best, but it wasn't enough. If there are lessons, we've shown we can compete against top teams, and this is a valuable experience against higher-level clubs.'

Real Madrid welcomed Kylian Mbappé back for his first appearance in the tournament, with the forward playing 23 minutes off the bench after recovering from acute gastroenteritis.

Real Madrid's coach Xabi Alonso stated that the French international will be in better shape for their quarterfinal in New Jersey on Saturday.

'He's improving daily, and by the quarterfinal, he'll be even stronger,' Alonso said. 'I check in with him regularly, and I expect him to be fully ready.'
