Lautaro Martinez, Inter Milan's captain, has scored 10 goals in 11 Champions League and Club World Cup games this calendar year, including two in the USA so far, but his regular partner Marcus Thuram is sidelined due to a thigh injury.

After a stellar loan season with Spezia, who were runners-up in the Serie B playoffs, Francesco Pio Esposito has replaced his older brother Sebastiano as Inter's second striker in this tournament and is expected to retain his spot.

If deemed fit, Thuram could be on the bench, while Davide Frattesi might make his first Club World Cup appearance as a substitute. However, Hakan Calhanoglu, Piotr Zielinski, Benjamin Pavard, and Yann Bisseck have returned to Milan, and striker Mehdi Taremi cannot leave his homeland due to the closure of Iranian airspace.

Fluminense remains without Otavio, but recent signing Yeferson Soteldo has resumed full training and may play a role in Monday's game.

It is uncertain whether 40-year-old captain Thiago Silva will return after withdrawing from the last group game due to a muscular issue, especially as his replacement Ignacio was named Player of the Match against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Surprisingly, the former AC Milan player is not Fluminense's oldest, as 44-year-old goalkeeper Fabio will start in goal; Ganso (35) and German Cano (37) are likely to come off the bench.

Inter Milan's possible starting lineup: Sommer; Darmian, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Augusto; F. P. Esposito, Martinez

Fluminense's possible starting lineup: Fabio; Xavier, Silva, Freytes, Rene; Hercules, Martinelli; Arias, Nonato, Canobbio; Everaldo
