Brentford captain Christian Norgaard avoided a red card against Arsenal for a high challenge on Gabriel Martinelli.
"I didn't see that again but in the moment if my foot was on the floor he could break my leg," said Martinelli afterwards. "He said he didn't mean it. I believe him but still he could have broke my leg. For me it was red. I need to see it again to be sure. But for me it was nasty."
Norgaard caught the Brazilian and received a yellow card from referee Simon Hooper, much to the dismay of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who argued with the Brentford bench and the fourth official.
Reacting to it at half-time, Sky Sports' Jamie Redknapp said: "It's not a great challenge. Martinelli is quicker than him, he lunges.
"It's a tackle players and managers don't like because it can hurt you.
"He's not that type of player, we all know that. But it's a desperate lunge.
"I think in that situation it would have been really harsh for a red card."
Former Arsenal and Brentford midfielder Steve Sidwell added: "I don't think there's real malice in the challenge. He goes with his right foot to try to win the ball and the momentum of his left leg takes it round. I think it's borderline."
