According to ESPN, Valencia has offered a new contract to Cristhian Mosquera in an effort to prevent him from moving to Arsenal.

Last week, Arsenal, led by manager Mikel Arteta, agreed on personal terms with Mosquera and initiated negotiations with Valencia for a transfer fee of approximately £15 million ($20.5 million), as reported by ESPN.

Valencia is making a determined effort to retain Mosquera for at least another season, but sources from ESPN indicate that it is unlikely he will renew his contract in LaLiga, given the highly appealing offer from Arsenal.

The 20-year-old Mosquera has become one of the most coveted young centre-backs in European football.

He has already earned a spot on Spain's under-21 national team and has played a pivotal role for Valencia during their difficult periods in LaLiga over the past two seasons.

RB Leipzig has also expressed interest in the defender, but Arsenal is currently in the strongest position to secure his transfer, according to ESPN.
