A thumping 5-1 win over Manchester City kept the Gunners' Premier League title hopes alive for the time being, as they prepare to face Newcastle in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final. The Gunners will have to overturn a two-goal deficit on the road, but they will be confident of doing so.
The trio of David Raya, Mikel Merino and Martin Odegaard all shook off fitness concerns last week and will be in contention for the trip to St James' Park. Only four remain in the treatment room, and one could return this month.
Apart from Jesus, who has been ruled out for the season with an ACL injury, the rest of Arsenal's injury situation is progressing well.
Ben White has been sidelined since undergoing minor surgery on a knee problem in November.
He has yet to return to first-team training, but it is hoped that he will get some minutes on the pitch before the end of the month.
Bukayo Saka has been sidelined since undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury picked up against Crystal Palace in December - the first serious injury of Saka's career and the initial prognosis was a March return, but Arteta was vague when asked for an update recently.
Arteta said: “We don’t know how long he is out and how many games he can play.”
It has been another injury-plagued season for Takehiro Tomiyasu. The 26-year-old has played just six minutes of Premier League football and has been out of action since the start of October.
Tomiyasu is reportedly close to making a return to action, but Arsenal have not given a firm timetable.
Arsenal have made no signings this transfer window and Arteta has been disappointed, so the timely return of these injured players is crucial for Arteta's side.
Fortunately, they do not have to wait any longer to qualify for the Champions League play-offs, and the gap to Liverpool appears to be manageable.
There are still ten days to go until the next Premier League game, and this one is crucial for Arsenal after their first-leg defeat.
