Liverpool have announced that defender Jarell Quansah has finalized his permanent move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayer Leverkusen will pay an initial fee of £30 million for the centre-back, with up to £5 million in easily attainable add-ons.

Quansah joined Liverpool's academy at five years old and made his senior debut against Newcastle United in August 2023. He had a successful breakthrough season under Jürgen Klopp in 2023-24, featuring in 33 appearances across all competitions.

However, the England youth international, a key player in Lee Carsley's triumphant under-21 European Championship squad this summer, struggled with form last season, starting only four Premier League games under Arne Slot.

Liverpool still value Quansah highly and have included a buy-back clause in the deal with Bayer Leverkusen at a pre-agreed fee, according to ESPN.

Liverpool have been linked to several potential replacements for Quansah, including Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi, but will only move forward if the right option emerges, as per ESPN.

Liverpool have invested heavily this summer, signing Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz for a club-record £100 million, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
