Barcelona are facing a battle to save their La Liga title chances in 2025.Now that the league is halfway through, Barcelona ranks third with 39 points, tied with Athletic Bilbao in fourth place. Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, ranked first and second, lead Barcelona by 7 points and 5 points respectively.
A scrappy 1-1 draw at Getafe saw the Blaugrana lose further ground on their rivals at the top of the table, with Real Madrid ending the weekend two points clear at the summit.
The defending champions are also seven points clear of their El Clasico opponents, who have slipped to third.
The frustration of Hansi Flick's men was palpable as they wasted chances and were held to a fourth successive league draw at Getafe.
Flick's men are the top scorers in La Liga this term with 52 goals from 20 games, an average of 2.6 per game, and a xG of 49.7.
However, those figures only tell part of the story, as they also lead La Liga in 'clear chances missed' with 55 - almost double the number of their nearest rivals - to 36.
The draw at Getafe was a perfect illustration of this, with an xG of 2.55 over 90 minutes, but Barcelona only converted one of the six big chances they created.
Hansi Flick may have to think of more ways to get his side on the scoresheet. After Lewandowski's hot start, he has scored just 2 goals in his last 8 La Liga games. The team has been wasting chances created by the likes of Pedri and Yamal.
Given Barcelona's current economic situation, it is not realistic to bring in a new striker - Olmo and Pau Victor's registration problems have just been resolved. Without selling or loaning players, it will be difficult for Barcelona to make any moves this transfer window.
