The Colorado Rapids can overtake Los Angeles FC for seventh in the Western Conference of Major League Soccer with a win on Wednesday at BMO Stadium.

Both teams are tied at 26 points in the standings, after LAFC's match against Austin FC was postponed due to weather, while the Rapids lost 2-1 to Sporting Kansas City on Independence Day.

LAFC has four of their next five matches at BMO Stadium, giving them a chance to pull ahead in the Western Conference and create separation from teams on the playoff bubble.

Currently, they are in a four-way tie for the final automatic first-round playoff spot, with at least two games in hand over teams above or below them in the West.

LAFC entered the Club World Cup on a nine-match unbeaten run across all competitions, but they now face a four-game winless streak, scoring only once during that period.

A defeat on Wednesday would be their first consecutive MLS losses at BMO Stadium, and it would equal their longest losing run in the league this year.

In six of their last eight league games, LAFC has conceded the first goal but rallied to earn points in five of those matches.

LAFC holds a perfect record at home against the Rapids, without conceding a goal in their previous five encounters at BMO Stadium since 2022.

Colorado slipped further in the Western Conference table last weekend, dropping points for the fifth time in their last six matches.

Four of their next five MLS games are away, where they are on a six-match winless streak, following a 3-3 draw at the New England Revolution.

In three of their last four away MLS games, Colorado has scored first but failed to win, losing eight points combined.

With only 24 goals in 21 domestic matches this season, the Rapids have scored fewer than any other MLS team in a playoff position.

All but one of their wins this year came when they kept the opposition scoreless in the first half, with just one loss in that scenario.

The Rapids have won just one of their last four regular-season away games against California teams, including a 2-1 victory at PayPal Park against the San Jose Earthquakes in March.

Los Angeles FC possible starting lineup:

Ochoa; Palencia, Long, Segura, Hollingshead; Tillman, Jesus, Amaya; Ordaz, Ebobisse, Bouanga

Colorado Rapids possible starting lineup:

Hansen; Rosenberry, Maxso, Awaziem, Travis; Ronan, Atencio; Bassett, Mihailovic, Ku-DiPietro; Navarro
