After weeks of speculation, Pablo Torre looks set to leave Barcelona on a permanent deal, with Mallorca emerging as the next destination.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has already given his customary ‘here we go’ for the deal, which should be announced as soon as tomorrow.
As per the report, Torre will Mallorca for a fee of €5 million, which is quite minuscule for Barcelona. However, the Catalans have retained various clauses which will help the club gain control of the player’s future, one way or the other.
For one, Barcelona will hold a 50% future sell-on fee, meaning the Catalans are entitled to half of Torre’s future transfer fee, whenever he departs from Mallorca.
In addition, Barcelona have a buyback option in Torre’s deal, meaning they can bring the player back to Camp Nou at a great discount price.
This could prove to be crucial, especially if Torre enjoys a big breakthrough at Mallorca and lights up the La Liga in the near future.
Apart from a buyback and a sell-on clause, Barcelona also have the right to match an offer should Mallorca decide to sell the player.
This is quite similar to a first refusal clause, where Mallorca must consult with Barcelona first should they receive any offer for the midfielder.
The Catalans will have the option to match that offer, and the transaction will go through only if the Blaugrana refuse the right to match option.
The report adds that Torre’s move to Mallorca could be officiated soon, perhaps as soon as Monday or Tuesday.
