Chelsea will likely make several changes to the lineup that faced Palmeiras, as Liam Delap and Levi Colwill received yellow cards in the quarter-final and will be suspended for Tuesday's match.

Recently signed Joao Pedro made his debut for the Blues, while Nicolas Jackson was unavailable despite completing his two-game ban. Thus, the Brazilian is favored to replace Delap in attack, with Tosin Adarabioyo possibly deputizing for Colwill.

Captain Reece James sustained an injury during the warm-up and joined Romeo Lavia on the sidelines. It remains uncertain if either will feature in New Jersey, where midfield anchor Moises Caicedo is set to start after serving his one-match ban. New arrival Jamie Gittens is ineligible.

Fluminense also faces suspensions, with centre-back Juan Pablo Freytes and midfielder Martinelli ruled out. Martinelli's absence could lead to goal-scoring substitute Hercules earning a starting role.

In the knockout stages, coach Renato Gaucho has adopted a back three formation, with 40-year-old captain Thiago Silva—who will play against his former club despite a nose injury—flanked by Freytes and Ignacio. However, changes may be necessary due to Freytes' unavailability.

Once again, veteran striker German Cano and dynamic attacker Jhon Arias are expected to lead Fluminense's front line. Arias has been a standout in the tournament, topping his team's stats for shots, chances created, and dribbles completed so far.

Fluminense possible starting lineup:

Fabio; Ignacio, Silva, Fuentes; Xavier, Hercules, Bernal, Nonato, Rene; Arias, Cano

Chelsea possible starting lineup:

Sanchez; Gusto, Tosin, Chalobah, Cucurella; Fernandez, Caicedo; Neto, Palmer, Nkunku; Pedro
