Montreal vs Inter Miami
Match preview
The elusive first home victory of the 2025 domestic campaign finally came on Saturday, as Montreal ended June on a high.
Having won two of their last three league matches, the Canadians are slowly climbing out of the bottom of the Eastern Conference, currently sitting three points below Atlanta United ahead of this weekend's fixtures.
Marco Donadel’s team have the opportunity this weekend not only to potentially move out of last place, but also to secure their first consecutive victories of the season.
Le CFM have been ahead at half-time four times in MLS this year, and have yet to lose when leading after 45 minutes, winning their last two games in that position.
Montreal have conceded just one goal in the first half of their last three home fixtures, but have only scored five times in the opening 45 minutes of a league match at Saputo Stadium this year.
The CFM have earned points in six of their last seven home matches against MLS clubs based in Florida. Notably, they held Orlando City to a 0-0 draw in April, securing their first domestic point in Montreal this season.
Having seen their Club World Cup aspirations go up in smoke last weekend, Inter Miami will be looking to make up ground in the Supporters Shield standings.
Javier Mascherano’s team were thrashed 4-0 by the reigning UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, but they are currently on a three-match unbeaten run in the MLS.
Currently, 11 points separate them from the Philadelphia Union, who are top of the league. However, the Herons have four games in hand on the five teams above them in the East.
Miami have been unstoppable in the attacking third in recent times, netting three or more goals in five of their seven league matches in May. They did not play a single regular-season match last month due to the Club World Cup.
Last year, Miami had the joint-most away wins in the regular season (11), but they have struggled on the road recently, failing to win any of their last three away league games and conceding a total of 10 goals.
The Herons have won their last two meetings with CF Montreal in this competition, including a 3-2 comeback victory in this exact fixture last year — their first-ever triumph at Saputo Stadium.

Caden Clark was ruled out of the Montreal lineup last weekend due to a sore knee, while Giacomo Vrioni sat out with an elbow issue. Jalen Neal had an ankle problem and Fabian Herbers was sidelined with a hamstring strain.
Although Joel Waterman will return from the CONCACAF Gold Cup, he will serve a yellow card suspension on Saturday. Olger Escobar should be available, despite scoring in the match, after Guatemala were knocked out of the competition by the USA (2–1) in the semi-finals this week.
Victor Loturi scored the only goal for CF Montreal in their shutout victory against NYCFC, while Jonathan Sirois made two saves to keep a clean sheet.
The Herons could be missing Gonzalo Lujan due to an unknown issue. Yannick Bright has a muscle injury, Drake Callender is dealing with a sore groin, and David Ruiz is questionable due to a strain.
Despite being substituted at half-time in their previous MLS match, Oscar Ustari played the full game in goal at the Club World Cup, while Jordi Alba played in the final three games of that competition after missing their last league match due to a muscle injury.
Lionel Messi scored twice in their victory over Columbus, with the other Miami goals coming courtesy of Luis Suárez, Fabrice Picault and Tomás Allende.
