Andree Jeglertz has signed a four-year contract to become the new head coach of Manchester City Women, taking charge after this summer's European Championship.

The 53-year-old Swede replaces Gareth Taylor, who was dismissed by the Women's Super League club in March after five years in charge. Nick Cushing stepped in as interim coach and led the team to a fourth-place finish in the league last season.

Jeglertz, who has led Denmark since 2023 and will face Germany, Poland, and Sweden in Group C at the European Championship in Switzerland, has a strong record in women's football. He was twice named Damallsvenskan Manager of the Year at Umea, where he won the UEFA Women's Cup—now the Champions League—in 2004.

He also guided Umea to two additional UEFA Women's Cup finals in 2007 and 2008, secured four consecutive league titles, and won the Swedish Cup, before managing men's team Djurgardens IF in 2009.

Jeglertz's first international role came in 2010 with the Finland women's team, helping them qualify for the Euros for only the third time in their history in 2013, after narrowly missing a World Cup spot two years earlier.

As a player, he was a defender for clubs including Malmo, IFK Trelleborg, Umea, Hassleholm, and Gimonas, and earned three caps for the Sweden U21 team.
