Bayern Munich took the lead just six minutes into the game when Erick Pulgar deflected a corner kick into his own net. Three minutes later, Harry Kane doubled the advantage with a low shot that hit the post and went in.​

In the 15th minute, Flamengo started to find their rhythm. Luiz Araujo had a point-blank shot opportunity, but Manuel Neuer made a brilliant save to deny him. Shortly after the cooling break, Gerson fired a spectacular shot that hit the underside of the bar and went in, pulling one back for the Brazilian side.​

Just before halftime, Leon Goretzka capitalized on the gaps in Flamengo's defense and scored a long-range goal from outside the box, restoring Bayern's two-goal lead.​

Ten minutes into the second half, Flamengo were awarded a penalty due to Michael Olise's handball. Jorginho converted it, narrowing the gap again. Flamengo then launched fierce attacks, but Bayern's defense held firm. In the 73rd minute, Kane sealed the victory with another low shot, and Bayern Munich eventually won the game 4-2.
