Olise is enjoying life at Bayern following his summer transfer from Crystal Palace. The French winger shone again on Saturday, scoring a brace and bagging two assists in a 5-0 win over Werder Bremen. Yet it was a different story after the game. Olise didn't want to give a post-match interview and so was joined by team-mate Jamal Musiala. The two stood in front of the cameras, with Musiala answering all the questions while Olise remained mute. Musiala couldn't help but see the funny side and joked "That's the start Michael!"
This is not the first time that Olise's interview technique has made headlines. He gave blunt answers to questions during his Bayern Munich unveiling and does not appear to be comfortable in the media spotlight. Yet he's likely to find himself continuing to be the focus of attention if he can carry on his early-season form. Olise now has five goals and two assists in his last three matches for Bayern in all competitions.
Manager Vincent Kompany has been full of praise for Olise. He told reporters after the win over Bremen: “He's a special talent. It's a luxury at Bayern to have so many good players. Michael did very well. His start at FC Bayern couldn't be much better. He has to keep going this way. I haven't got the feeling that he's a player who feels much pressure. He just enjoys football."
Olise was directly involved in four goals against Werder Bremen in just his fourth Bundesliga appearance. No player on record (since 2004-05) has had four or more direct goal involvements in a game this early into their career in the German top flight.
Bayern and Olise return to action on Saturday with a huge game against defending Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena.
