Nottingham Forest Club officially announced that it has extended the contract with 28-year-old full-back Aina until 2028.

Official statement:

Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm Ola Aina has signed a new deal, extending his stay until the summer of 2028.

The Nigerian played a pivotal role in the team’s 24/25 campaign, starting in 35 of 38 Premier League games.

Having spent much of the previous season at left-back, the versatile 28-year-old was deployed mainly on the right side of Forest’s solid defence throughout the season. His tireless defending saw him win possession in the defensive third more times than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues in the 2024/25 season. He also scored twice along the way to Forest’s seventh-place finish in the Premier League, including a memorable strike with his left foot in the 3-0 win against West Ham United at the City Ground.

Aina joined Forest in the summer of 2023 from Serie A side Torino, going on to make 59 appearances for the Reds in all competitions. Having played 100 times in the Italian top division, Ola has plenty of experience playing at the highest level, needing just nine more games to reach a century in the Premier League.

The upcoming season may also see Ola reach another milestone, with the Nigerian international needing just four caps to reach 50 for the Super Eagles.

On extending his contract, Aina said: “I’m over the moon, I can’t wait to continue this journey with the Club. It’s always felt like a home ever since I joined and I’m happy to be here. Now my focus is on preparing for the new season well and getting back to hard work.”
