After back-to-back away games, Levi Colwill can’t wait to return to Stamford Bridge today. The Blues are going for a seventh consecutive home victory in all competitions, and the defender has underlin:
We have won our past five Premier League games in SW6, along with the second leg of our Conference League last-16 tie against Copenhagen.
Making the Bridge a fortress has been central to our push for Champions League football next season, and ahead of Ipswich’s visit, Colwill acknowledged what a difference the home fans can make.
‘Being back in front of them is a big positive,’ he said. ‘With the home fans, it's like playing with an extra player. We need them and the energy they give us has been amazing, especially in that last game [against Tottenham], and we have got to carry that on.’
Colwill is also confident the assurance we displayed in the second half of Thursday’s victory away to Legia Warsaw will act as a good building block this afternoon. We looked menacing every time we went forward after the interval, and were rewarded with three goals.
‘Momentum is the biggest thing,’ stressed the 22-year-old. ‘And if our confidence is high, I think we'll beat anyone. So we've got to carry that on and get the win against Ipswich. Hopefully, we can try and keep a clean sheet and win the game.
‘Every team in the league has had ups and downs this season. So have we. When we're playing our football, I think we're unstoppable. We've got to keep doing that. We've got to push on with the momentum and hopefully get a win today.’
